Lusby Mejia, age 16, is now in the ninth grade and happy about her achievements so far. Lusby was brought in by her mother eight years ago so malnourished that she was swollen and her hair had fallen out, she also had bowed legs from vitamin deficiencies. Lusby has been here ever since that time. She is a bright girl with a contagious smile responsible beyond her years. She lovingly cares for and dispenses wise advice to her younger "sisters" in the dorm.
